Hi, I’m Mike Howard.

I work at Cavalry Disaster Advocates, where I help homeowners and families who have lost property to wildfires find guidance and support as they go through the insurance recovery process.

Disaster recovery is personal for me. I lost three homes in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake in the Monterey Bay area. Later, while living in Oroville, I remember weeks of smoke covering our town during the Camp Fire in Paradise. These experiences taught me how quickly life can change and how deeply disasters affect whole communities, even long after the danger is over.

I know my experience is not the same as what Lahaina families are going through, but it has given me deep respect for anyone working to rebuild after a disaster.

My goal is simple. I want to listen, make the insurance process less confusing, explain the next steps, and connect homeowners with the right support if a claim review could still help.
